If you sell products online, post your photography or share designs, a watermark tells people where the image came from and makes it harder to reuse without credit. Here is how to add one for free, and how to keep it from spoiling the photo.
Add a watermark in three steps
- Open the free Watermark tool and upload your photo.
- Type your text, such as your name, your shop or "© 2026 Your Name".
- Set the look, then download: - Position: any corner, top or bottom centre, the middle, or tile to repeat it across the whole image. - Opacity so it is visible but does not cover the subject. - Font, size, colour, rotation and an outline so it reads on light and dark areas.
Which style to choose
- Corner, low opacity: for portfolios and social posts, where the photo should still look clean.
- Tiled, diagonal: for previews you send to clients before they pay, or product photos that others often copy.
- Centre: for proofs, where the image should not be usable without the watermark.
Tips for a watermark that works
- Keep it short: a name or a handle reads better than a full sentence.
- White text with a thin dark outline shows on almost any photo.
- Keep it away from the edge you might crop later, or it will be cut off.
- Add the watermark last, after resizing and any filters, so its size stays right.
Watermarks and AI images
The Trendy AI Lab app puts a small watermark on free AI images; a credit pack or an ad-free plan removes it. If you made an image elsewhere and want your own name on it instead, this tool does that.
