A busy background pulls the eye away from a face: other people, signboards, cables, clutter. Blurring it keeps the scene and the mood but makes the subject the clear focus. It works well for profile pictures, product photos, LinkedIn headshots and travel shots in crowded places.
Blur the background in three steps

- Pick a style: Natural DSLR for a subtle look, Creamy Bokeh for a soft dreamy blur, or Strong Portrait for the most separation.
- Set the blur strength and edge softness, then download.
Settings that look natural
- Start low. A moderate blur looks like a real lens; a very strong one can look edited.
- Raise edge softness for hair. A softer edge hides a rough outline around loose hair.
- Match the scene. Strong blur suits a close-up; a full-body travel photo usually wants less, so the place is still recognisable.
Photos that work best
- One person or one object, clearly in front of the background.
- Some distance between the subject and what is behind them.
- Good light on the face, since blur cannot fix a dark or out-of-focus subject. For that, try Sharpen Image or Adjust Exposure first.
