A good line deserves better than a plain text post. Put it on a photo, give it a clean font and the right size, and it becomes something people stop on and share. Here is how to make a quote image with your own picture free, with no app and no account.
Make a quote image in four steps
- Open the free Quote Maker and upload a photo, or skip the photo and use a plain or gradient background.
- Type your quote and, if you like, an author or handle line under it.
- Pick a design preset, a canvas size and the fonts (see below).
- Download the image and post it.
Canvas sizes
| Where it goes | Pick |
|---|---|
| Instagram feed post | 4:5 (fills the most screen) |
| Square post, WhatsApp DP | 1:1 |
| Story, Reel cover, WhatsApp status | 9:16 |
| YouTube, slides, LinkedIn banner | 16:9 |
Original keeps your photo's own shape.
Design options
- Design presets: Modern Stoic, Minimalist, Social Card, Vintage Typewriter and Bold Poster.
- Fonts: serif, sans, monospace, bold or handwritten, with separate choices for the quote and the author line. Font size is automatic unless you set it.
- Placement and alignment: centre, top, bottom or any corner, aligned left, centre or right.
- Backgrounds: your photo, solid dark, solid cream, or a midnight, sunset or emerald gradient.
- On a photo: raise Photo Dark Tint until the text reads clearly, and add a little Background Blur so the words stand out from busy detail.
- Extras: a large opening quotation mark and a thin divider line, each on or off.
Tips for a quote image people read
- Keep it short. One or two sentences stay large on a phone. Cut the rest.
- Credit the source. Put the author in the author line, or your own handle if the words are yours.
- Pick a calm photo. Sky, sea, a wall or a blurred street leaves room for text.
- Check the contrast. White text on a dark tint is the safest pairing.
Quote image ideas
- A morning or good night message for the family group.
- A festival wish on a photo of your own diyas, lights or decorations.
- A line from a book or song on a photo from your trip.
- A thank-you note to customers on a photo of your shop.
