About the Passport Size Photo with White Background
A passport size photo in India is 35 mm wide and 45 mm high (3.5 x 4.5 cm), in colour on a plain white background. Black and white photos and computer printouts are not accepted on the passport form.
If you apply in person at a Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, you do not need a photo at all: it is taken there. You need a printed photo for the paper form and for many other Indian forms that ask for a passport size photo.
